IMBA Host Successful 2010 Clinic

The Irish Marching Bands Association (IMBA) are delighted to report on the success of the 2010 Clinic on April 24th & 25th. The clinic built on the format of 2009 and it is hoped will become an annual event. The IMBA retained the services of the top instructors from the 2009 Drum Corps Europe Champions - Jubal. The instructors included Jubals caption heads Robby Overvliet (Visual), Ruben Lourens (Percussion) and Syliva Vos (Colour Guard). These instructors braved the possibility of the volcanic ash cloud returning over Irish skies which had plagued European air travel up to the day before their flight from Amsterdam. The dutch instructors were supported by Irish instructors Ken Walsh (Percussion) and Gerry Baker (Visual).

The clinic was well attended with over 100 attendees from a range of Irish Marching Bands from all over the country. The clinic included an instructors section on the Sunday which focused on the Program Coordination and Design of the 2009 Jubal winning show "Magicians & Ghosts". Irish Instructors and designers were treated to a detailed breakdown of all aspects of the Jubal program with some great interaction and feedback from the attendees.

The IMBA would like to thank all those who attend the clinic and would especially like to thank our Dutch friends for taking time out of their busy rehearsal schedule to spend time with the Irish bands. Following the clinic Robby Overvliet said "It is very exciting to see the progress the Irish activity is making and the willingness of people over there to invest time and energy into their personal and bands development. That's great!" The IMBA will be hosting a number of DCE certified contests this year which will further strengthen the link between Ireland and the European marching music
